The Sweet Life

It is NOT sweet how long it’s been since I’ve blogged, yikes!  But that just means I’ve had so much going on in my sweet life.  Number one sweetness right now….my first niece Hope, aka, Skully. (name thanks to T months ago, it’s hard to shake!)  The feeling of love you have immediately for your sibling’s child is overwhelming.  I feel lucky to have experienced my own child first so that I can relate to all of my brother’s and sister in law’s feelings, emotions, trials, frustrations, joys and surprises…without having to deal with the lack of sleep again, that’s fo sho.  So a big welcome to the new precious perfect member of our family, Skully, you better have a sweet tooth ;)

Skully was born when I was away on business, and at first I was so sad I wasn’t closer to greet her.  But I then realized how lucky I am to be able to wear so many hats in my life.  (not literally, I look terrible in hats.)  Now having sweet T, Sweet Vivi’s and traveling again for event planning is very fulfilling.  I love being away and experiencing new places and researching new cupcakes but  I LOVE coming home to T.

My point of today’s blog (besides being in love with and bragging about my beautiful niece) is…don’t get stuck.  It’s easy to stay put and not change…because, well, it’s easier!  Traveling makes me miss T big time, which means I’m a better more centered (sweeter) mom.  I truly am living the sweet life.

Sweet Birthdays

It was a busy birthday baking weekend, and a fun one!  I love when people come up with new things for me to try.  A lot of times they end up being a fan favorite!  Like the new Turtle Cupcake, filled with caramel toffee..mmmm.  It will be a regular at Lowcountry Produce.  Happy April!

Lowcountry Produce Market & Cafe

Beaufort has been patiently (well, not so much) waiting for the opening of the new Lowcountry Produce Market & Cafe for months….and drumroll…after a giant scissor cutting/tons of hard work and late hours/baking baking baking….it’s OPEN!!!  Not only is it stocked with delicious goodies and a fab cafe, it’s beautiful.  The fun and amazing part is that the building was previously run down city hall.  The Garrett family had the vision to take out the second floor and utilize the building’s sweet huge windows and now tall ceilings to create something Beaufort didn’t have.  The other fun part is that LCP prides themselves on using and promoting local vendors and items.

This is where the big thank you comes in…Thank you Garrett family for letting Sweet Vivi’s be a part of it all!  So far it’s been so busy that Sweet Vivi’s has barely been able to keep up.  Baking cookies, cupcakes, whoopie pies, cake balls and cakes every day for the masses to enjoy.  (so, yes, I know when the case is empty, early bird gets the cupcake!)

I’m so honored to have my sweets in LCP, it makes me happy to go in there every day, beautiful space, wonderful people and yummy yummy food.  So go check it out people!!!!

Happy Sweet V Day!!

Oh Valentine’s Day…either loved or loathed, it’s still literally the sweetest day of the year.  At least in this kitchen!  And what was even sweeter this year?  Teaching sweet T’s preschool class about baking and decorating cupcakes with them.  Have you ever seen anything sweeter (or messier) than 3-4 year olds cracking eggs, icing their fingers and getting sprinkles everrrrrrywhere?!  You may think, um yes, I have seen plenty of things much sweeter!  But definitely not as adorable as their faces, filled with excitement, and having them tell me they’ve never done anything as fun as crack an egg.  Here’s to you my future little bakers, may you keep the awe in your eyes and love baking on Valentine’s Day…See messiness below…Happy Sweet Day.  (PS:  the kiddies were very excited that they were going to be on my webpage:)
